Personal Chef Service in the Pacific Northwest: What to Expect When You Hire Anita & Joe's
We understand that you may have a busy schedule, a growing family, or a special gathering to plan. You may want delicious, balanced food without spending every evening shopping, cooking, and cleaning. You may also be wondering what a personal chef service really includes and whether it is the right fit for you.
At Anita & Joe’s, we are happy to make the process simple.
We bring authentic Southern recipes, thoughtful planning, and personal attention to families, intimate dinners, and events throughout the Pacific Northwest. Our goal is to meet you where you are at. We work with you to create food that fits your tastes, needs, schedule, and budget.
What Is a Personal Chef Service?
A personal chef service is a customized cooking experience created around you.
Depending on what you need, we may:
Plan menus around your family’s preferences
Shop for groceries and ingredients
Prepare meals in your home or arrange delivery
Cook food for a private dinner or special event
Accommodate dietary restrictions and food allergies
Package and label meals for easy reheating
Provide buffet, family-style, or plated service
Clean the kitchen after cooking or service
Unlike a standard meal delivery program, personal chef services are built around your household or gathering. We do not expect you to choose from a one-size-fits-all menu. We are happy to listen first, then create a plan that feels personal.

Personal Chef Services for Family Meal Planning
Cooking great meals takes time. We know that time can be hard to find when work, school, errands, and family responsibilities fill your week.
Our personal chef service can help take away the daily question of “What’s for dinner?”
We begin with a consultation. We talk with you about:
Favorite foods and ingredients
Foods your family does not enjoy
Your preferred number of meals
Children’s tastes and portion needs
Dietary requirements
Your schedule and storage space
Whether you prefer in-home preparation or delivery
Each week, we can propose a menu for your approval. This gives you a chance to review the meals before we shop and cook. We love this collaborative approach because it removes guesswork and helps make sure the final menu works for everyone in your household.

In-Home Preparation or Delivery
We offer flexibility in how your meals are prepared.
With in-home preparation, we cook in your kitchen and leave your meals ready to enjoy or store. This option can be ideal when you want fresh cooking in your home and a highly personalized experience.
Delivery may be a better choice when you prefer convenience without having a chef cook onsite. We can discuss the menu, preparation details, packaging, and delivery expectations during your consultation.
We are happy to help you decide which option fits your lifestyle best!
Intimate Dinner Parties at Home
A personal chef service can also turn your home into the setting for a memorable dinner.
You may be celebrating a birthday, anniversary, holiday, engagement, or simply a night with close friends. We work with you to create a menu and service style that match the occasion.
We can discuss:
Appetizers and small bites
A multi-course dinner
Family-style service
Buffet service
Plated meals
Dessert
Southern-inspired menu ideas
Guest dietary needs
Kitchen and serving logistics
We love creating food that feels special without losing the comfort and warmth of a home-cooked meal. Our sample personal chef menu can give you an idea of the type of menu planning we offer, but your final menu is created around your preferences.
For a relaxed dinner, we may suggest a comforting family-style spread. For a more formal celebration, we can help build a polished multi-course experience. We will guide you through the choices so you do not have to figure everything out alone.
Personal Chef Support for Events
Our personal chef service can also support smaller events, gatherings, and celebrations.
We bring our expertise to homes, offices, and event spaces. We can help with everything from drop-off meals to more involved catering service.
Our broader catering services include support for:
Weddings
Corporate gatherings
Employee celebrations
Family events
Holiday parties
Special occasions
Casual gatherings
We offer a variety of service styles, including full-service passed appetizers, drop-off lunches, buffet meals, and sit-down dinners. We are happy to discuss your guest count, venue, timing, menu, and service expectations before preparing an estimate.
The best event food is not just delicious. It also arrives at the right time, fits the setting, and allows you to enjoy your guests. We work with you to make the food one less thing to worry about!
What Does a Personal Chef Service Cost?
We understand that cost is an important part of your decision. You should not have to wonder about hidden charges or receive an unclear estimate.
At Anita & Joe’s, we focus on upfront, fair, and transparent pricing. Our regular meal service is generally based on:
A per-person price per meal
Grocery costs
A fee for the chef’s time based on the menu
Potential travel or delivery fees, depending on location and service
Additional costs for expanded or specialized services
Our regular meals start at $12 per person per meal, plus groceries and the chef-time fee. The final price may change based on the menu, number of meals, preparation method, delivery, and level of service.
We provide a consultation before finalizing the details. After we agree on the menu and any additional services, we provide an estimate for your review. A deposit may then be required to cover groceries and part of the service.
For events and intimate dinners, pricing depends on factors such as:
Number of guests
Number of courses
Ingredient choices
Service style
Preparation time
Staffing needs
Travel distance
Rentals or additional equipment
You can review our starting prices for more information. We are also happy to answer questions before you commit. Clear pricing helps everyone plan with confidence!
Dietary Needs and Menu Preferences
We believe everyone at the table should feel considered.
We can work with vegan, vegetarian, and other dietary preferences. During your consultation, we will ask about allergies, intolerances, lifestyle choices, and ingredients you need to avoid.
We can also discuss:
Gluten-free needs
Dairy-free meals
Lower-carbohydrate preferences
Kid-friendly options
Ingredient dislikes
Texture preferences
Family recipes
Cultural or regional food traditions
If you have a severe allergy or complex medical diet, please tell us during the initial conversation. We want to understand your needs clearly so we can discuss safe preparation and whether our service is a good fit.
We do not believe dietary accommodations should feel like an afterthought. We work with you as a team to create a menu that satisfies everyone as much as possible.
Why Anita & Joe’s Is Different
Our food is rooted in family, memory, and Southern tradition.
Anita and Joseph Malone inspired the heart behind our business. Their hospitality taught us that there should always be room at the table and that cooking for someone is an act of care.
We carry that spirit into every personal chef service.
Our authentic Southern recipes are shaped by traditional techniques and generations of flavor. We love slow-simmered dishes, well-seasoned vegetables, comforting casseroles, tender meats, fresh-baked breads, and desserts that bring people back for seconds.
At the same time, we understand the Pacific Northwest. We can work with seasonal ingredients and the fresh produce available throughout the region. Chef Billy brings more than 15 years of culinary experience, combining professional technique with the warmth of Southern home cooking.
That balance is what makes our food special. We bring Deep South flavor to the Pacific Northwest while creating menus that feel right for your table.
You can also explore our chicken and sausage gumbo to experience one of the comforting Southern flavors we love to share.
What to Ask Before Hiring a Personal Chef
Before booking any personal chef service, we recommend asking a few practical questions:
Is the service prepared in my home or delivered?
Are groceries included in the quoted price?
How is the chef’s time calculated?
Is there a travel or delivery fee?
What dietary needs can be accommodated?
How are meals packaged and stored?
What service style is available for an event?
Are cleanup and serving included?
Is a deposit required?
What happens if the guest count or menu changes?
We welcome these questions. Our personal chef frequently asked questions page covers several common concerns, including pricing, dietary restrictions, children’s meals, deposits, and additional services.
